Donald Trump has secured a lot of press throughout his life. The business magnate and presumptive Republican nominee has probably secured more ink in the last year than any presidential candidate ever ($2 billion in “free” media coverage by some estimates), and there’s rarely a day he’s not trending in your Facebook feed for some outrageous soundbyte.
But how much do you know about his personal life and his family? Sure, you probably read somewhere that The Donald is worth somewhere north of $4 billion, and have probably heard that he has a couple of ex-wives, but what do you know about his kids?
Believe it or not, the 70-year-old actually has five of them, and each have their own unique backgrounds, careers, and yes, baggage.
Here are 12 facts you need to know about Donald Trump’s kids. #8 seems the most shocking!
12. His Oldest Has Five Kids And A Supermodel Wife
Donald Trump Jr. is Trump’s eldest child and works as Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization. The 37-year-old also has five kids of his own with supermodel wife Vanessa Haydon, whom he married in 2005. He is also an avid hunter and built up a reputation in his 20s as a hard partier, a lifestyle he turned his back on in order to settle down and go to work for dear old dad.
11. Ivanka Trump = Successful Businesswoman
Trump’s second-oldest by Czech model Ivana Trump, 34-year-old Ivanka, is probably best known for a comment made by her dad during a 2006 appearance on The View. Trump admitted that he’d be interested in dating Ivanka if they weren’t, you know, related, but his eldest daughter has accomplished so much more than being the apple of her father’s eye. Ivanka is an accomplished businesswomen who serves as executive vice president of acquisitions and development for The Trump Organization.
10. Ivanka Trump = Best-Selling Author
In addition to her business endeavors, Ivanka is a successful former fashion model and, after publishing a book titled The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life in 2009, a New York Times best-selling author. She is currently working on a follow-up titled “Women Who Work: Redefining the Rules for Success,” which will be released in 2017.
9. Ivanka Trump = Recent Convert To Judaism
Ivanka also underwent an Orthodox conversion to Judaism in 2009. She changed her name to “Yael,” a common Jewish name, and keeps to a kosher diet and religiously observes the Jewish Sabbath, refusing to take so much as a phone call between Friday and Saturday. She married real estate developer Jared Kushner in a Jewish ceremony that same year. The couple have three kids.
8. She’s also BFFs with Chelsea Clinton
Even though the Clintons and the Trumps are America’s top political families and fierce opponents, Ivanka and Chelsea Clinton have been BFFs for years. Chelsea, 36, regards Ivanka as one of her closest friends, and has warned critics of the Trumps for assuming that Ivanka’s privilege and upbringing means she lacks depth. Though the 2016 presidential race looks like it’s going to be a nasty one, the national showdown between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump probably isn’t going to break these two up any time soon.
7. Eric Trump, Famous Philanthropist
Trump’s third-oldest child, Eric, is also an important part of his father’s empire, having worked on The Apprentice, supporting dear old dad on the campaign trail, and serving as an executive vice president in the family business. Eric is also well-known for his philanthropic efforts, and was recognized by the New York Observer for his work. The Eric Trump Foundation, created in 2006, has donated over $28 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, according to its website.
6. Tiffany, The Party Girl
Though she mostly avoided the limelight prior to the 2016 presidential election, Trump’s 22-year-old daughter Tiffany has been a standout feature on the campaign trail, bringing lots of attention to her personal life as a socialite and twenty-something party girl. A well-known socialite, Tiffany interns at Vogue and has released a pop single.
5. Don’t Let Her Social Profile Fool You …
Her biggest claim to fame is probably her Instagram profile, on which she posts almost daily. Her frequent check-ins on social include photos from Trump’s campaign events and various parties she attends, but don’t let the feed fool you — Tiffany is also quite bookish, studying sociology and law and urban studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is an A-student.
4. Trump’s Fifth Isn’t Even A Teenager Yet
Barron, Trump’s son by wife Melania, is only 9 years of age. The spitting image of his father, Barron prefers to dress in sharp suits and stays active by playing sports, including baseball and tennis. Though Trump’s youngest heir would never need to work a day in his adult life, his family says that he is already showing an interest in the family business, and might even want to pursue politics himself one day.
3. No Nanny For This Kid
This goes without saying, but Donald Trump is a rich guy. He employs a full staff of personal cooks and maids, but surprisingly, Barron doesn’t have his own nanny. The Trumps are hands-on parents, and despite his busy schedule, The Donald frequently makes time to play golf and sit down to family dinner with Barron. Say what you will about Trump and his presidential campaign, he hasn’t let anything else in his life get in the way of quality one-on-one time with his youngest kid.
2. But Barron Gets Plenty Of Space, Too
Though these last two entries make Barron sound like a normal kid his age, let’s not forget that he is endowed with huge privilege as a member of the Trump family. Barron might not have a nanny, but he does have his own floor in Trump’s Manhattan penthouse. Let’s say that again: not his own room, his own floor.
1. How The Family Tree Works
In case you’re having a hard time keeping all of Trump’s kids straight, here’s a quick cheat sheet. Trump was married to Ivana from 1977 to 1991. Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump are Trump’s oldest kids, all born of Ivana. Trump then married Marla Maples in 1993, and the couple had Tiffany before divorcing in 1999. Trump’s current wife, Melania, is the mother of Barron. The couple were wed in 2005 and are still together over ten years later.
Though his personal life and political views have been the stuff of headlines for decades, Donald Trump’s family life is a stark contrast to the persona he has portrayed in the 2016 election. Though his kids have maintained relatively squeaky-clean public personas during this election round, time will tell what kinds of attacks are directed at Trump’s family before November. We’ve got a long way to go, but based on what we already know of Trump, we’re guessing he’ll be more than willing to take on the critics as they come
