Those that we do know about we don’t necessarily know everything about. One thing is for sure, and that’s that we know which ones are and aren’t dangerous. Some are obviously dangerous and we do all we can to avoid them. Others are seemingly harmless but can still cause us fatal harm. Out of all the animals in the world, these are the 18 most dangerous species based on how many lives they take a year. Some will absolutely shock you so click through what critters to avoid!

#18 Brazilian Water Spiders

The water spiders aren’t commonly seen out in the open and normally snake into people’s houses and cars on accidents. Don’t fear too much, there is an anecdote!

#17 Polar Bear

One of the types of bears is Polar Bears. #15 Grizzly Bears

Grizzly Bear attacks take around 10 lives annually. Despite their size, they’re known to be pretty speedy as well as being overprotective of their young. #14 Poison Dart Frog

But make sure to make it a pretty long distance as their skin is covered in deadly toxins. They carry enough poison to kill up to 10 people! For being as tiny as a leaf, that’s some pretty powerful poison!

#13 Leopards

That’s not the case for large felines, though, and that holds especially true for Leopards. Leopards are strong, fast, and know how to kill if they need to. Although they look like gentle giants, they are far from it as they will not hesitate to attack you.

We eat and drink products from their bodies daily, and having a cow kill you is probably a fear you’ve never thought of. Horses are massive animals full of pretty strong muscles and incredibly powerful legs. A swift kick can sometimes be enough to take the life of a human so make sure you never stand behind one too close. Around 20 annual deaths are reported annually to horse related deaths.

Humans are around dogs much more commonly than other animals on the list, and abused or mistreated dogs can especially get territorial and violent if threatened. They still will remain top the list of man’s favorite companion, however.

However, these fierce animals will do whatever it takes to protect themselves and can quickly go from one to one million if threatened. They reportedly take up to an average of 30 lives a year. Like most cats, they are very defensive and aren’t afraid to knock someone out if they feel threatened. Their massive paws and teeth don’t have much competition between predators!

However, they are extremely dangerous and can kill up to 170 people a year! Each jellyfish has an average of 60 tentacles equipped with over 5,000 stingers. #6 Hippopopotamus

They’re even mostly vegetarian! However, if you threaten a male’s land or a female’s babies, you might find yourself one of the over 500 people that die from hippos annually.

However, they are pretty common among populated areas, causing over 2,000 deaths annually. They have extremely strong jaws and are skilled in water making them incredibly dangerous to be around.

Not only are they incredibly tiny for how poisonous they are, but their bright appearance also makes them interesting to look at. They are especially lethal to children, so stay clear kiddos!

#3 Snakes

However, snakes should be feared the most out of any common fears people have, as snakes are responsible for killing over 300,000 people a year! That’s an average of 800 a day! The most deadly types of snakes are the Black Mamba and King Cobra. Though many keep these animals as pets, number one is still more of a shocking list entry than this!

#2 Tsetse Fly

017--2-tsetse-fly-251241The tsetse fly is one of the smallest animals on the list but is also the second deadliest of them all. They are known as carriers for the African Sleeping Sickness. This disease affects around 500,000 people a year and takes the lives of about half of those affected.

#1 Mosquito

It’s scary to think that those little annoying bugs that try to steal your blood could also kill you! They are infamous for carrying the spreading Zika virus, but they also carry the deadly Malaria virus, killing over 2 million people a year! Watch out for these long-nosed bugs!

While some of the animals on the list are expected to be deadly animals, some of these are absolutely shocking! As if we didn’t already have enough to fear in the everyday world! However, many of these deadly animals are only present in certain areas, and it’s not like you run into grizzly bears and hippos in your backyard (depending where you live)! One important thing to remember is that these animals aren’t out to kill us, they simply want to protect themselves and their babies. Though some of these have high kill rates, there are plenty of other things in the world that we run a greater risk of dying from.
