Teen Mom Charged After Taping Her Son To The Wall

A mother is supposed to protect and love their child no matter what. They are supposed to care for them, love them and fight for them. But not all moms think that way.

It’s heartbreaking when the person you trust and who’s supposed to care for you is the first one to hurt you. Just like this teen mom who did something cruel to her toddler. We all know how toddlers could sometimes be but resorting to this action is just bad.

The worst part is, she shared it on her social media account for all of her friends to see. Now she’s suffering the consequence of her actions. Read on to know the whole story.

10. Teen Mom

Shayla Rudolph, the 18-year-old, the teen mom accused of taping her 2-year-old son to the wall, including his son’s mouth shut. She even decided to stream the video of her cruelty on her Facebook page. Obviously, she received a ton of backlash and was even got reported to the police.

She may be the mother but that doesn’t mean she can do whatever she wants with her son. What she did was a form of child abuse and her poor judgment got the best of her.

9. Bad Advice

The video, which has been deleted, was acquired by a local news station, WSXY Channel 6 News. In the video, Shayla Rudolph casually walks around the house and says, “Parents don’t need to whoop the kids, all you gotta do is tape them to the wall.”

She also can be seen kissing her young son, while he was taped to the wall, and telling him, “You’ve got the best mommy in the whole wide world. Don’t make me put more tape up there. Now sit still. You can see the TV from right there,” reported by the Columbus Dispatch.

8. Poor Judgement

In another part of the video, she tells the camera, “”You can’t clean without them running around tearing up? Tape them to the wall. You can’t cook or none of that because they’re running around? Tape them to the wall.”

Police said the boy was taped up on the wall for about 15 minutes. According to police, the teen mom used clear packing tape to control her son, and also taped his mouth closed.

7. Misguided Mom

The teen mom told investigators she hung her son from the wall as a joke, WSYX-TV reported. In a second video posted after the incident, Shayla said she should be allowed to punish her son however she wanted to.

Her obvious lack of concern about or, enjoyment in, the abuse of her young child disturbed the people. But she said she was now punishing him by putting him in a corner, not taping him to the wall, the news station reports.

6. Police Investigation

Police said detectives started investigating on Wednesday after receiving a crime tip from WSXY Channel 6 News “concerning a live Facebook stream of a mother taping her very young child to the wall and taping his mouth shut. Reynoldsburg Detectives received a copy of the stream and began an investigation.”

The news station reported on the video the day before Shayla Rudolph’s arrest but did not name her. They said they received the video from a viewer. It is not known if the video had been reported to authorities before the news station received the tip from the viewer or vice versa.

5. Shayla Rudolph Arrested

Shayla Rudolph’s son was taken into the custody of the Franklin County Children’s Services on Thursday morning “for his safety,” police said. In another video uploaded to Facebook in the days after the first video, Shayla said she had been contacted by children services, WSYX/WTTE-TV reports.

In that video, she said “they can go ahead and take” her son,” the news station reports. “This time you all can take him,” she says.

4. ABC 6 on the case

Once the local ABC affiliate in Reynoldsburg, Ohio picked up the story and tipped off police, the investigation moved quickly. They explained in their coverage that Child Protective Services could not reveal whether or not they had investigated the tip, but it didn’t take long for the teen mom herself to confirm that they had. She took to Facebook Live again to rant about CPS coming to talk with her saying that she no longer cared, they could take the child from her.

3. Paid For Her Mistakes

As of the following day, Shayla Rudolph was arrested and charged with abduction of the minor child, a third-degree felony charge, and her son was taken by Child Protective Services. If convicted, she could face one to five years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.

Honestly, that doesn’t sound like enough. I don’t understand how anyone could do that to a helpless child, but I’m glad that for once, the legal system seemed to work exactly the way it should. I just hope that Shayla’s son finds a loving home and remains happy and healthy.

2. Needs Guidance and Support

We’ll never understand why this teen mom did what she did. But one thing is for sure, she also needs some attention and guidance when it comes to parenting. Being a mom at a young age is not easy and she may be struggling herself.

She may need counseling and a life coach to help her with what she’s going through. Everybody is fighting a battle we do not know. She has already paid for her bad decisions and will probably regret her actions once she’s mature enough.

1. Regrets

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard such stories. It’s heartbreaking to see parents abusing their children when they should be the first ones to protect them.

This story of Shayla Rudolph is one we could all learn from. One day when she’s wiser, she will regret what she did to her son. But for now, she has to pay for what she did. Hopefully, she will learn from it and come out as a better person.
